School Safety: Managing a Crisis Situation, Part 2

Course Access: Lifetime
Course Overview

How a school plans for and responds to a crisis situation can be crucial to determining the outcome of that situation. Knowing what to do and how to respond can help faculty and staff react consistently, quickly, and with the least amount of confusion and panic – all of which affords the greatest chance for a positive outcome. In part two of this two-part series, join Brent Maguire as he provides specific examples of different crises responses depending on the type of threat, such as for an intruder/trespasser or an active shooter. As part of this discussion, Brent will suggest procedures for dealing with the media during a crisis and after it has been resolved. He will also address possible recovery measures that can be taken, as well as the importance of doing a crisis debriefing.
