Course Overview

In this first course on the Old Testament, we engage in a comprehensive overview of God’s plan from creation to the birth of the nation of Israel, the kingdoms of Solomon and Judah to the book of Esther.

Student Learning Outcomes:

God’s relationship with the nation of Israel represents the foundation of covenant creation with a chosen people. In this first course of Old Testament study, the elementary premise of promise and obedience is explored.

Students who successfully meet the requirements of BIB 205 will be able to:

  • Distinguish the major components of the books from Genesis to Esther.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Pentateuch (Genesis through Deuteronomy) in the    establishment of a covenant relationship with God.
  • Analyze the significance and contrast the historical events that are discussed in the Old Testament.
  • Explain God’s passion and call to Israel in re-establishing the covenant relationship.
